14 local divers named to 2015 NISCA all-American team

All-Met Diver of the Year Jack Crow was recognized for his accomplishments on the board with his second straight NISCA all-American diving designation, along with 13 other D.C. metro area divers for the 2014-15 high school season. The Penn State bound graduate swept through the high school postseason, repeating as Maryland state champion for Bethesda-Chevy Chase while posting an area-best score of 596.25 in winning his first Metros title.

Virginia’s top diving duo of Grayson Campbell, last year’s all-American diving champion and a rising senior at Madison, and W.T. Woodson‘s Ben Schiesel, a Virginia Tech bound graduate, were also a named. It was Campbell’s third straight selection.

W.T. Woodson also put rising sophomore Conor Casey on the list, joining George C. Marshall with multiple all-American honorees. Greg Duncan, a rising junior, and Ian Shelton, a rising senior and three-time all-American, were named for the Statesmen.

Casey along with Hailey Fisher of Mount Vernon were two of the 13 total freshmen named all-Americans.

South County‘s Maggie Pionzio, a rising senior and reigning Virginia state champion, was recognized on the girls’ side along with two others.

Others: Sidwell FriendsBen Magliato, a Northwestern bound graduate; rising senior Samson Miller of Fairfax; and rising juniors Joseph Canova of Quince Orchard, Mory Gould of Churchill, Jacob Kreider of Yorktown and Regan Westwood of Wootton.

Notably not on the list were Churchill’s Elaina Faerber, Metros and Maryland state girls’ champion, and Kali Becker, a two-time Metros champion and North Carolina bound graduate.

In total, Virginia dominated locally with nine total selections, Maryland had four selections while D.C. only one. Texas high schools topped the list nationally with 23 selections, three fewer than last season.
